World Street Food Congress is cancelled because of…patriotism?

After the cancellation of the “most important gastronomy congress,” we are now faced with the news of World Street Food Congress’ being canceled as well.
In their public statement released on WSFC’s official Facebook page, the organizers expressed their apologies, citing extenuating circumstances as their reason.

They didn’t really specify a concrete reason why, but we imagine it might share the same reason behind Madrid Fusion’s cancellation. After all, WSFC is also presented by the Tourism Promotions Board headed by actor Cesar Montano.
WSFC is the event that brought celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain to the Philippines last year. It’s an event that showcases cooking demonstrations and stalls serving dishes from the Philippines, as well as other parts of the world.
