When New York-based burger joint Shake Shack confirmed its plans to bring its famous burgers, shakes, and hot dogs to our shores in July, we didn’t know where exactly are they going to establish a Manila HQ.

But now we do.

We saw its graffiti-style hoarding at Central Square, Bonifacio Global City yesterday, Dec. 5, which is apparently a mural by street artist Jappy Agoncillo. Specialty retailer SSI Group Inc., Shake Shack’s partner in the Philippines, has also been dropping hints on its social media pages about the burger joint’s first Manila branch. And just earlier today, Dec. 7, SSI confirmed its location—on the corner of C1 Park and 5th Ave. in particular. It’s slated to open in the first quarter of 2019.

Started out as a “roadside” burger stand in Madison Square, New York in 2001, Shake Shack has now expanded to various states in the US and countries like the UK, Japan, China, and in the Middle East.

The burger joint is also known for championing sustainable agriculture. It uses its own blend of freshly ground 100 percent Angus beef from vegetarian-fed, humanely raised, and source-verified cattle. Its chicken meat is also sourced from a free-range farm. Its famous frozen custards are made using real sugar, not the dangerous high fructose corn syrup.
