Six salad places for the busy and diet-conscious

There’s nothing cheaper than homemade salad bowls. Unfortunately, most of us don’t have all the time in the world to scour the market for the freshest produce and put together an appetizing green meal every day. But we can pay experts to do the careful assembling of vegetables, fruits, and dressings for us (That’s one proof money can buy happiness. Checkmate, Jessie J.).

Here are some salad places you can get satisfying healthy meals:

Go! Salads

Quezon City (F. Dela Rosa St., Katipunan Ave.; Techno Plaza 2, Eastwood; UP Town Center)
Ortigas Center (Sapphire Rd., Ortigas Carpark; Robinsons Cyberscape Beta, Ruby Rd.; Robinsons Cybergate Plaza, EDSA; The Medical City)
Makati City (3F Dela Rosa Carpark; 9F Philam Bldg., Legaspi Village; Salamin Bldg., Salcedo Village; 3F Tower 2, Makati Medical Center)
Pasay City (One Archers Place, Taft Ave.)
Taguig City (Robinsons Cyber Sigma, Lawton Ave.)

This salad place is popular for its salad smoothies and actually, for just being affordable. You can get this tall cup of Rock Smoothie, a concoction of banana, raw cacao nibs, almonds, coconut sugar, greens, and soy milk, for only P120. You can turn your smoothies into protein shakes, too, by adding P35 to the original price with their protein powders such as chocolate or vanilla whey, and soy protein. Go! Salads’ products are organically-grown and locally-sourced.

Salad price range: P135-155

Salad Stop!

Makati City (GF, OPL Bldg., 100 C. Palanca St., Legaspi Village; Ayala Tower One; Glorietta 2; R3 Level, Power Plant Mall)
Taguig City (LG, Central Square, 5th Ave. cor. 30th St., Bonifacio Global City; Burgos Circle)
Greenhills, San Juan

This concept from Singapore gives customers the option on how they’d like to devour their salad: in a bowl or wrapped? Their takeaway salad bowls are stored in reusable microwavable plastic containers, ideal for storage. If you want to get the all-time favorite Oh Crab Lah! in a wrap, it’s not much of a hassle to eat either; you can even eat it in a moving vehicle (if you’re not the driver). Although pricier than Go! Salads, Salad Stop! promises generous and fulfilling servings.

Salad price range: P250-375

Berde

Ayala Triangle, Makati City
Open daily, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
728-5046

If you like to put together a salad dish yourself, you can do so at Berde. But they’ve already assembled five signature salad bowls for you if you’re not that confident with your DIY skills yet. Like what our editor Pauline wrote in her review of this salad place, “It’s also unintimidating, as all the ingredients used are local, and carry a flavor that’s still distinctly Filipino.” They have mushroom monggo kare-kare for your meatless lunch and saba chips for your office snacks.

Salad price range: P250-380

Silly Salads

22 Malingap St., Teachers Village, Quezon City
Tuesday, Thursday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
579-1216

Get their shawarma salad for only P155. Photo grabbed from their Facebook page.

Silly Salads is only a takeaway place. Customers can call in advance to place their orders and just go to the shop for pickup. Their affordable yet appetizing salad bowls come in only a few but auspicious flavors: shawarma, chicken cabbage, sweet and spicy Thai, potato, potato and squash, kamote, chicken pasta, and bibim, salad with gochujang dressing for a Korean touch.

Salad price range: P135-155

Satinka Naturals Bistro

1137 Kamagong St. cor. Chino Roces Ave., Makati City
Open daily, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

After seven years of handcrafting organic skincare and homecare products, Satinka Naturals opened a bistro in 2014. Just like most salad places, they are vegetarian- and vegan-friendly, using organic vegetables sourced from the Cordilleras. For dessert, they have a vegan salted caramel cheesecake aside from the traditional one. The prices are reasonable for such hearty meals. They still have their apothecary in their shop, by the way.

Salad price range: P130-380

Green Pastures

Level 4, East Wing, Shangri-La Plaza, Ortigas Center, Ortigas, Mandaluyong City
Ground Floor, Net Park Bldg., 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City
Level 3, Eastwood Mall, Libis, Quezon City

Expect nothing boring from Green Pasture as it is yet another venture of chef Robby Goco of Cyma. Their salad bowls are pricier than others and, in turn, far from bland and modest. The photo above is of their vegan Umami bowl which might be your next after workout meal. It contains kale, adlai, tofu, and roasted mushrooms among many other vegetables. Match it with their iced teas made with organic honey.

Salad price range: P400-615
