How do you like your coffee?
I don’t know you personally, but I’m sure you don’t like it with broccoli. Is that even possible, you ask?
Yes. In fact, in Australia, scientists have developed a way consumers can drink their greens. They now have a powdered version of broccoli, which they can stir into smoothies, juices, baked goods, and even coffee (a cafe in Melbourne called Common Folk has started experimenting with the powder by incorporating it into their coffees).
The Australian government science agency CSIRO and agriculture group Hort Innovation grind bunches of broccoli that are ugly to be sold in grocery stores and turn them into a powder. In this case, it also aims to reduce vegetable waste.

This is perfect for those who despise vegetables but still need the green’s health benefits. Every two tablespoons of powder are equivalent to approximately one serving of vegetables, which is a person’s recommended daily intake. It’s a good source of fiber (helps regulate the body’s use of sugar), vitamin B6 (helps support adrenal function, helps a person calm, and maintain a healthy nervous system), vitamin E (antioxidant), and manganese (for weak bones, painful joints, and weight loss).
But what about the taste? Well, that Melbourne cafe has received “mixed” reviews about their broccoli coffee.
