Grab has always been an escape plan, especially for people like me who dread even just the thought of commuting to and from work. It saves us from the stress and anxiety we carry every time we step into an overly congested MRT-3 train or sit for hours on a bus that is practically frozen on Edsa. It saves us from long lines, smoke, and the scorching Philippine heat. But let’s face it, Grab’s prices are not always commuter-friendly.
That is, unless we have enough points for a discount
A ride from Ayala to Bonifacio Global City on a bustling Friday night, for example, would cost me approximately P300. That is 1,204 percent higher than the P23 I would spend commuting. I repeat, 1,204 percent. But with 1,000 GrabRewards points, I would only have to pay P200. That means a lot for a thrifty passenger who desires for a comfortable and stress-free ride home.
The points also allow me to bag discounts in GrabFood bookings, online shopping applications, and even airline seats. You can even buy prepaid load with cashback.

The underlying problem here is that it’s so hard to earn that much GrabRewards points. In my case, I would have to book a Grab six to seven times to earn enough.
But on their seventh anniversary, which Grab will be marking from today to Jun. 4, seven users of the ride-hailing application have the opportunity to win 1 million GrabRewards points.
All we have to do is to join the raffle by using any of Grab’s services—from car, taxi, and premium rides to express deliveries, and food bookings. One complete transaction of any of these services entitles passengers one electric raffle entry. “Users can earn additional raffle entries for every additional transaction made with Grab,” the application clarified in a statement released yesterday.
Seven winners of the one million GrabRewards points will be announced on Jun. 6.
