In an interview with Teleradyo today, May 27, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said enrollment of public school students will continue on Jun. 1.

The Department of Education (DepEd) scheduled a month-long enrollment period for public school students from  Jun. 1 to 30.

Roque said that the enrollment is part of the preparation for whether classes will resume virtually or physically.

Through said program, other platforms such as television, radio and the internet can still be utilized.

On Monday, May 25, President Rodrigo Duterte announced that he is not allowing the reopening of classes until a vaccine is developed, contradicting DepEd’s May 11 announcement that classes will resume on Aug. 24.

In an online briefing on Tuesday, May 26, Roque clarified that the president meant that he does not agree with the holding of “face-to-face” classes as long as the country is under community quarantine.
