You won’t be able to climb temples in Myanmar for those iconic sunset photos anytime soon

One of the things people take pride in when they travel are the photographs they bring home after. Aside from souvenirs and other foreign knickknacks, photos are probably the ones that will last a lifetime. Some travelers go as far as climbing mountains, buildings, and other establishments just to get the ‘winning shot.’ And with the presence of social media, sharing these images with the world are now easier than ever.

If you’re traveling to Myanmar soon, or if Myanmar is in your bucket list, a new order from the country’s ministry of culture is set to ban tourists from climbing the temples. The reason for this is to preserve the monuments and help it in its bid to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site by 2019.

The ancient Burmese city is known for its breathtaking monuments and pagodas, which all make for a stunning backdrop against the beautiful sunset.

Don’t fret, there are tons of ways on how you can take amazing photos from your travels. Here are a few tips that you can take note:

1. Research your location

This is a must if you want to showcase your destination. People travel a lot these days and if there’s one thing you want to achieve when taking your image, it’s that it should be something no one has ever taken before. Seems impossible? I think not. Your job is to take them better by finding a different angle and/or telling a different story.

2. It’s all about composition

It doesn’t matter what rule you follow: the rule of thirds, framing your shots, working with lines, what’s important is letting your subject shine. Including people in your images also makes your photos much more fun and interesting.

3. Play with colors

You can stick to a few enhancements, but if you want to get more creative, incorporating a specific palette for your travel photos is a nice way of making them more unique.

4. Invest in a few toys

Action cameras, drones, and different kinds of lenses can help make your portraits look amazing. Just keep in mind that you don’t need to splurge just for the sake of a good photo.
