The town of San Vicente in Palawan (a.k.a. the home to the country’s longest white beach) is now made more accessible to tourists. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines just opened San Vicente Airport on Thursday, May 10, concluding the P62.7-million project which began construction in 2009.
According to DOTr Sec. Arthur Tugade, commercial Seaplane operator Air Juan has been using the airport. “Sa lalong madaling panahon, magsisimula na ring bumiyahe dito ang Cebu Pacific at ang Philippine Airlines,” he said. The terminal building can accommodate up to 100 passengers.
Following this development and Boracay’s closure, an influx of tourists in this first-class Palawan town known for the Long Beach, which spans 14.7 kilometers, is expected.
“San Vicente projects to log up to 100,000 tourists for 2018,” municipal administrator James Inawasan said.
