Goodbye, Anthony Bourdain

If there’s any international celebrity chef everyone knows, it’s Anthony Bourdain. He had long made a name for himself as a chef and eventually as an author and a television host through his coverage of food and drink from all over the world. His shows, “Parts Unknown,” “A Cook’s Tour,” and “No Reservations” were some of the most well-known of its kind as well.

Because of his popularity and his credibility in the field, many held his opinions to high regard. The food and restaurants he would feature on his shows would eventually gain fame, too. In the Philippines, Cebu lechon and sisig were some of his special mentions.

CNN reports that Bourdain was in France producing an episode of his show with the network. He was found unresponsive in his hotel room on the morning of June 8 by French chef Eric Ripert, who was also a close friend of Bourdain. CNN reports the cause of dead was suicide.

Read CNN’s statement below:

“It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain. His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time.”
