Japanese dep’t store Mitsukoshi is opening in BGC soon

Japanese department store Mitsukoshi will enter the Philippines for the first time and will soon open in Bonifacio Global City. Stretching 25,000 sq. m., it will feature not only Japanese fashion brands and cosmetics but also a supermarket and a food hall.

Last year, Federal Land teamed up with Japan’s Nomura Real Estate Development Co. Ltd. and Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. to invest in a P20-billion residential and retail complex, according to Inquirer.net. The residential project is called Sunshine Fort Landmark, which will have four residential towers. The retail aspect, on the other hand, is the Mitsukoshi shopping mall. It will be erected beside the Grand Hyatt at the Fort.

Founded in 1673, Mitsukoshi is the oldest surviving department store brand in Japan.

Aside from Ginza, travelers can also find the department store in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Italy, Florida, and New York City.
