Fashion designer Eddie Baddeo passes away

Today, the Philippines lost one of its prominent pillars in the fashion industry with the passing away of Eddie Baddeo. His partner, Edgar Medina, confirmed the news through a Facebook post. He was 57.

Eddie Baddeo broke out onto the fashion scene in the 1980s, creating artistic pieces using materials like Venetian blinds, electric fan covers, and compact discs. His rise to fame continued in the 1990s, when he produced pieces highlighted femininity and took inspiration from the glamour of the 1950s. His dedication to going off the beaten path later earned him the title of Philippine fashion’s enfant terrible.

Recently, Eddie Baddeo dressed some of the attendees of the Best Dressed Women of the Philippines gala, an event that helped raise funds for the Philippine Cancer Society.

In 2016, the renowned designer was diagnosed with stage 2 colorectal cancer. Before his death, the fashion designer was gearing up to celebrate 33 years in the fashion industry. In the days leading up to his death, he was preparing for a fashion show and the launch of his book in September.
