Whether flying back to the province or taking a short break abroad this All Saint’s Day or Undas break, elementary to college students—including those taking up vocational and technical courses—are still exempted from paying airport terminal fee at Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP)-governed terminals all over the country.

Passenger service charge (PSC), also known as airport terminal fee, is charged to passengers departing from domestic airports. The current domestic PSC ranges from P50 to P300, while international PSC is from P550 to P880, depending on the airport. Both charges are usually included in ticketing charges.

But following a memorandum released in August, CAAP Director General Jim Sydiongco reminded the public that students who present their valid identification or registration cards with photos can avail of the exemption.

They are also entitled to a refund if the charges are already included in ticket fees. An application form just needs to be filled out for exemption at a Malasakit Help Desk located at the airport.

The exemption, however, doesn’t cover airports managed by other airport authorities such as the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), and the Clark International Airport (CRK).

The exemption program is CAAP’s way of supporting the importance of education, Sydiongco told Inquirer.

Some schools and colleges have already ended the first semester this year, while others have already waived classes for this week to give students ample time to travel back to their provinces in time for Undas.
