Try ballet for free with this online dance class from Lisa Macuja Elizalde

The enhanced community quarantine has given some of us more time in our hands, and being forced to stay home has also inspired a search of new hobbies for some. From reading books and learning how to cook, to (re)discovering a love for art and history, various activities are currently made accessible for people to try anytime thanks to things like online reading lists, cooking video tutorials, and virtual museums.

This time around, the art of ballet adds itself to the list as Ballet Manila introduces their upcoming live online class hosted by the country’s very own prima ballerina, Lisa Macuja Elizalde.

The online ballet fitness class will take place on Mar. 26 at 10 a.m. through Facebook Live on Ballet Manila’s official page. Those who will be joining in the class are asked to prepare the following materials ahead:

  • Yoga Mat
  • Chair as a makeshift ballet barre
  • Soft ballet shoes or socks
  • Drinking water
  • Face Towel

The live class will run for a total of 30 minutes, but those who want to learn more can keep up with Macuja Elizalde’s Ballet Minute series on Ballet Manila’s Facebook page as well. Through short videos, the ballerina gives coaching on the dance’s basics, including informative breakdowns of the art of classical ballet into easy-to-understand pieces and tips on how to improve posture.
