Good news to those of us who are drowning in billing statements: The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) announced that payment of contributions for self-paying members, like self-employed individuals, professional practitioners and those belonging to group enrollment schemes is extended until June 30 without interest.
Additionally, public and private sectors may also pay for the months of February, March and April 2020 only until June 22 without interest.
PhilHealth also allowed a flexible and deferred payment scheme for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), granting them 12 months from the date of their initial payment to complete their balance for the year. Payment is also voluntary for OFWs during the duration of the pandemic; however, they must still secure an Overseas Workers Welfare Administration certification.
Those who wish to pay ahead of the deadlines may still do so at any of PhilHealth’s accredited collecting agents and PhilHealth local health insurance offices nationwide. The extension is in line with the state insurer’s efforts to alleviate the financial burdens of COVID-19 pandemic.
