As in-person classes are limited during the community quarantine, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is helping students and educators prepare for the school year by launching an online hub for learning materials.

Earlier this week, the government agency launched PHL CHED Connect, which contains text, media and other digital course materials for higher education. These course materials cover topics in agriculture, business, engineering, humanities, and communications, and other fields of study.

As of writing, PHL CHED Connect has over a thousand course materials and academic institutions like the University of the Philippines, Mapua University and Ateneo de Davao University have contributed to the platform. These can be accessed from mobile devices and desktops.

CHED has also partnered with international universities to acquire course content for the site, and will be funding colleges and universities who develop their own content based on the resources available on PHL CHED Connect.

Earlier, CHED announced that the resumption of classes in higher education institutions will depend on how classes are conducted. Colleges and universities utilizing full online education can open anytime, while those using flexible education modes can open anytime in August.

The commission is currently looking into allowing limited in-person classes for low risk areas placed under modified general community quarantine. According to CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera III, guidelines for this will be submitted to the Inter-Agency Task force in late June or early July.
