ICYMI: UV Express vans are back on the road. The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) announced over the weekend that 47 routes to and from Metro Manila from nearby provinces will be operational starting today, June 29.

But units will only be allowed to operate if they abide by the LTFRB guidelines. Among these are avoiding EDSA and Commonwealth Avenue and operating under point-to-point pick-up and drop-off approach, meaning there will be no stops except on terminals.

In Antipolo City, where a UV Express line going to Ayala is located, no drivers are allowed to ply the road without having had a rapid antibody test to confirm that they are COVID-free.

As usual, both drivers and passengers are required to wear masks at all times.

In terms of fare, LTFRB ordered that the P2/km rate should be retained. And passengers are advised to prepare for an exact change.

Much like any other public transportation, passengers are also limited to half the vehicle’s capacity, eight in the case of these utility vans or approximately two persons per row seated one seat apart. Barriers must also be installed to separate rows of passengers and the driver from the rest of the group.
