Manileños have it all: Free testing (for all!) and now a mobile app for paying taxes

Manila City is really onto something. Apart from being the most transparent local government unit online and the most responsive when it comes to COVID-19 efforts and distance learning for both students and teachers, the Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso-led city is forging a digital future for its residents.

Aside from a blockbuster drive-thru and walk-in free testing facilities, did you know that the city also has an app where citizens can pay taxes (real property and business at the moment) avail civil services such as requesting documents like birth certificate, cedula or community tax certificate, local civil registry and occupational permit or health certificate?

The app called Go! Manila is the city’s answer to decongesting government offices of residents wanting to avail of basic services during the pandemic.

Launched earlier this year, the city is ramping up efforts to digitize government services through this partnership with Bayad Center and Landbank. It is currently available on Google Play for Android users and accessible online at cityofmanila.ph.
