Heads up, commuters: LRT2 will close at an earlier time next week

Here’s an advisory for commuters: The closing time for Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 2 will be two and a half hours early for an entire week starting Monday, July 27.

According to the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), the last train trips in both Araneta Center-Cubao and Recto terminal stations will be at 7:30 p.m. This is to give way to the installation of a new electrical line between Pureza and Legarda stations until Aug. 2. Its closing time will then revert to the regular 10 p.m. schedule on Aug. 3.

All stations, however, will still open at 5 a.m. throughout this disruption.

Last July 16, LRT announced the implementation of a “no talking” policy on all of its trains as an added measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This was first enacted on the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) per an advisory from the Department of Transportation on July 13.

“Talking with other passengers and answering calls from your mobile devices are prohibited throughout your train journey to avoid possible droplet transmission. Also, face masks must always be worn properly while inside the trains for your safety,” LRTA announced.
