Cavite governor Jonvic Remulla shared in a Facebook post on Thursday morning, July 30, their plans of opening the “biggest testing laboratory” for COVID-19 in the country soon.
The laboratory is located in De La Salle University-Dasmariñas and can conduct 3,000 tests daily. However, the local government is currently building two more facilities to reach 10,000 tests a day—the biggest in the country. All three laboratories will operate seven days a week.
Remulla started his post by acknowledging rising unemployment rate, number of lives lost and unnecessary protocols. “Maraming magulo at walang kabuluhan na patakaran (backride parachute). Parami nang parami ang napipikon habang ang iba naman ay patuloy na umaasa at naghihintay sa susunod na ayuda,” he wrote.
“Base sa narinig ko sa SONA, tanging bakuna na lamang ang ating hinihintay para labanan ang sakit na ito,” he added.
The governor then listed down public concerns that should be addressed by the national government once a vaccine is made available: “How do we administer 220,000,000 doses? How do we do it without creating the least amount of panic and hysteria? Who gets it first and how do people get it quickly enough?”
Besides testing laboratories, they will also launch free wi-fi to support students in their educational activities starting Aug. 24 as face-to-face classes are still prohibited. The local government will also implement a provincial vaccine ID system for “effective administration.”
“The good news is we are now crafting a proactive and viable plan for Cavite. Now, let us all come together and create a plan for the country,” the governor concluded.
As of writing, Cavite has approximately 835 active cases.
