If you’re planning to visit Tagaytay sometime, you may have to put your plans on hold… unless your area is under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

According to Joint Task Force Covid Shield Commander Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, tourists from MGCQ areas who want to visit Tagaytay or other areas that have reopened their borders need not secure a travel pass.

Eleazar, however, added that LGUs who have reopened their borders will still be given the discretion to implement rules that manage and control the entry of tourists to comply with quarantine protocols.

“LGUs may or may not require a travel authority for entering tourists. We leave the decision to them for as long the travel protocols are still observed when they open their borders to tourists,” Eleazar said.

As of writing, residents in Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Quezon and nearby areas under MGCQ are allowed to travel to Tagaytay.

According to previous announcements, tourists from areas under general community quarantine (GCQ), modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), and enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) will still be required to secure travel passes.

Residents may obtain travel passes for family or medical emergencies and going home as a “locally stranded individual,” among other reasons. Tourists visiting the area will be required to observe health and safety guidelines.
