You can stream over 100 local films at this year’s Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino

Filipino cinephiles, we have some good news for you. The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) has announced that the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) will be going online this year.

In a Zoom press conference, FDCP chairperson Liza Diño–Seguerra reassured Filipino film fans that PPP—now on its fourth year—will be adapting to the new normal and showcasing the fruit of homegrown talent online. The virtual celebration of both mainstream and independent local cinema will be available from Oct. 31 to Nov. 15 with around 60 full length feature films and 60 short films in exhibition.

The FDCP’s decision to host the festival online was born out of a desire to help the country’s film industry that has been adversely affected by the pandemic. “As we face a global pandemic, I believe that the PPP will highlight the importance of coming together to support and keep the film industry alive through the continued appreciation and love of Philippine Cinema by showing classics, indies, and contemporary films,” Diño remarked.

This year’s selection will include film premiers, tributes to film legends who have passed on, Filipino Oscar entries, the films of national artists, genre films, regional film festivals, locally produced documentaries and digitally-restored classics.

The FDCP’s Cine Marya Filmfest will also be showcased on digital screens with 12 short films premiering under the competition.

Online attendees can choose from three access passes to (virtually) attend the festival. The digital tickets have different access options that range from one day passes, half-run passes and premium passes through FDCP’s platform, FDCPchannel.ph.

Seguerra also shared that 100 percent of the online ticket sales will be given to the movie producers. “Despite the limited budget, the FDCP is exhausting all efforts to support Filipino filmmakers in these challenging times by holding the PPP as a representation of unity and a solidarity event that gives back to the filmmaking community greatly affected by the COVID-19 crisis,” she added.

The list of films that will be streaming include the world premier of He Who Is Without Sin (2020) and Kintsugi (2020).

You can register and buy your online passes through their website. Their access passes are P99 for the day pass, P299 for the half run pass and P599 for the premium pass. They’re also offering an early bird promo for their premium pass for P450 until Oct. 15.

The PPP will be running from Oct. 31 to Nov. 15, 2020.
