Books from Underground is back in business—and now online

Mid-last year, the Lagusnilad Underpass was reopened after months of rehabilitation, and along with it came the news of the upcoming reopening of the famed Books from Underground. The secondhand bookstore, first established in 2010, was known for being a resource of both popular and hard to find titles.

In a Facebook post, photographer Danny Pata shared images of the newly reopened Books from Underground, shelves fully stocked with hundreds of titles from various literary genres and themes. The bookstore owners are reportedly also in the process of making all their titles available online via their Facebook page.

Among their available books are titles on (and by) Jose Rizal, nature, food, political theory, arts and crafts, sports and hobbies, and even children’s books, comics and Filipino and international novels (full disclosure: the author has been scrolling through the Facebook page all morning and has not seen the end of the list yet).

With NCR under enhanced community quarantine, going out to see the bookstore may not be possible yet. To inquire and purchase available books, visit Books from Underground’s Facebook page.
