International Museum Day may have already passed, but we can still enjoy free virtual tours until the end of this month.
If you’ve already exhausted the numerous 360-degree virtual museum tours these past few days, here’s another online tour to try. Ayala Museum is hosting an interactive 8-bit tour of the country called “Where is the Filipino?”
The virtual tour, hosted on online social platform gather.town, aims to show attendees the diversity of Filipino culture all over the country. It will show the history of migration in the country, and how maritime trade and colonization influenced our culture and traditions.
The tour will feature areas of the Philippine archipelago, marked on the map by the various items in Ayala Museum’s collection. “These will help you be more familiar of the various ethnolinguistic groups represented in the collection and their traditions,” the Ayala Museum writes in the tour’s official brochure.
What makes the tour almost like traveling is how you can virtually ride boats to get to the different islands. “Where is the Filipino?” officially opens with a guided tour on May 21, but as of this writing all slots have already been filled. But don’t fret—self-guided tours will be open from May 22 to May 30.
