Paint, sculpt, sketch and more with Cartellino’s latest workshop

If you’ve always wanted a chance to flex your art-making muscles, Cartellino is making it possible. The online Asian contemporary art digest, platform, and shop is hosting a series of workshops on sculptural pottery, sketching, printmaking, collaging, and painting through Cartellino School.

The sculptural hand-building pottery workshop (P5,100) with Genavee Lazaro will run for five sessions weekly. It’s suited for beginners ages 12 and up, and according to the website, “All costs for the purchase of essential pottery materials (stoneware clay and tools) plus firing fees are baked into the pricing of this course.”

The freehand portrait sketching course (P4,200) with Kristoffer George Brasileño will go for four sessions weekly. The course is suited for beginners ages 15 and up who want to “graduate from photo references to on-the-spot sketching [with] skill and confidence.” For this course, there are add-on materials that you can buy with the class such as sketch pads, pencils, and erasers.

For the two-session compositions in collage course (P2,100) with Mara Fabella, the course will be taught in one weekend. This workshop is suited for beginners ages 18 and up. The basic acrylic painting course (P4,200) with Eldrick Daniel will be held for four sessions, twice a week. It’s suited for beginners from ages 16 and up. For the relief printmaking course (P4,200) with Tish Hautea, the course will run for four sessions weekly. The class is suited for everyone ages 12 and up.

While the collage, painting, and printmaking courses don’t include all the necessary materials, instructions on how to acquire them will be provided once you’ve enrolled.

These classes are taught live online by artists who specialize in their respective fields. Since the classes are live, the instructors are able to adapt to your workflow and answer questions you might have on the spot. There are also individual consultation sessions to help students further improve.

If you’re interested in signing up, you better hurry. The capacity of each class is either five or ten students to make sure each person can be mentored personally by the facilitating instructors. The early bird discount for each of the classes runs until May 25, 11:59 p.m. For more information and details on each course, visit the Cartellino website.
