Learn pottery basics over a full merienda spread at this heritage house

Pottery and food are both forms of art, and a new collaboration is bringing them together. Kibo Studio’s Reine So is partnering up with empanaderia and provincial kitchen Casa Luisa for an exclusive, one-time pottery making class (with merienda, of course!). 

“The people behind Casa Luisa are experts in their craft and more importantly, they share our vision of championing inclusivity and promoting local goods and craftsmanship,” So wrote on her Instagram post announcing the collaboration. 

The pottery at Casa Luisa class will be on April 1 at Casa Luisa in San Pedro, Laguna.

The pottery class at Casa Luisa will begin with a warm welcome into the heritage home over a spread of empanaditas pan de sal de pugon and some calamansi coolers to get everyone settled in. After the initial welcome, you’ll head straight into the pottery class where you’ll learn a few pottery basics and then get to make your very own mug from scratch—with all the assistance you’ll need, of course. 

After class, you’ll have a full merienda spread courtesy of Casa Luisa. The merienda will consist of arroz caldo, ukoy, lumpiang gulay, kalamay latik, and seasonal fresh fruits. Specialty coffee, teas, and other drinks will also be available during the afternoon. 

For students who want to celebrate their new creation over a glass of something stronger, wine will also be available with an additional fee. 

The class has a very limited capacity of only 15 people, so you’ll want to make your reservations as soon as possible to secure a slot. The class is priced at P4,800 per person, which already includes your merienda from Casa Luisa, all the tools and materials you’ll need to make your own mug, and the glazing and firing of your finished product. 

Do keep in mind that you won’t be able to bring your mug home immediately. It’ll take three months for the mugs to completely dry and be fully glazed and fired.
