Coming from experience, finding a good job these days is definitely a challenge. I wouldn’t say it’s hard, but I don’t think it’s easy either.
According to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) poll, joblessness in the country hit its highest level with 23.9 percent (an estimated 10.9 million adults) in March. This was the highest joblessness level since December 2016.
In a report by Inquirer.net, Malacañang said that they’re optimistic the government’s “Build, Build, Build” infrastructure program will generate more jobs. Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque also noted that the poll was taken during “graduation season,” which means a lot of graduates haven’t secured a job yet.
The SWS survey found that the adult workforce participation rate dwindled by 0.7 percent to 71. 4 (45.8 million) percent last March. 12.6 percent (5.8 million) among the jobless resigned or voluntarily left their jobs, which is more than last year. On the other hand, the number of those who involuntarily left their jobs increased to 7.7 percent (3.5 million) from 5.9 percent (2.7 million) last December.
When it came to gender, joblessness went from 26.7 percent to 33.9 percent among women; and 7.6 percent to 16.1 percent among men.
