After confirming their plans to open a flagship store in the country, IKEA has yet another good news for Filipino fans.

“Prices [will be] so low that as many people as possible can afford them,” the Swedish furniture giant’s market development manager Georg Platzer said speaking at the Philippine Retail Summit.

However, IKEA also cleared that they would have to work around the importation cost and other regulatory factors.

Platzer emphasized that pricing is one of five key considerations in their designs along with function, form, quality, and sustainability.

He also assured prospective Filipino buyers that the upcoming branch, that will be hosted by the SM Mall of Asia complex, will carry the same range of products available in other IKEA stores in 49 other countries. This is despite their announcement that their wooden furniture will not be made from locally-sourced wood as there are no certified sustainable sources in the country.

Known for their build-yourself furniture items, IKEA now has more than 400 stores all over the world.
