TESDA offers 6 foreign language courses for free

We know TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) for its vocational and technical skills training like bookkeeping, carpentry, restaurant service, and the likes. But did you know that it also has foreign language courses?

These courses are offered for free. However, priority is given to those who are working outside the country and those who need to learn the foreign language in their jobs. They just need to bring their contracts upon enlistment for a priority slot. These skills give overseas Filipino workers an edge during the hiring process as some employers prefer those who know how to speak their language.

Aside from the languages per se, the courses include basic culture education.

Here are the foreign language courses available at TESDA Language Skills Institutes.

  • English – 100 hours
  • Japanese (Nihongo) – 150 hours
  • Mandarin Chinese – 100 hours
  • Arabic – 100 hours
  • Korean – 100 hours
  • Spanish – 100 hours

Those who wish to enroll have to meet the basic criteria first:

  • Filipino (any gender)
  • 18 years old and above
  • At least high school graduate

As of now, the Language Skills Institute doesn’t offer classes on evenings and on weekends. Morning classes run from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., afternoon classes from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
