If a picture paints a thousand words, all the better for your lost Grab driver—because now the ride-hailing app has implemented a photo-sharing function in GrabChat. This means passengers can opt to send their drivers photos of their exact locations, thus making the pick-up process much easier.
Now you don’t have to worry about how to best describe your pick-up location, especially if it’s in one of the many side streets and uncommon roads in the metro. (A huge relief, especially for people with no sense of direction, like me.)
The feature, first launched in Singapore last month, aims to reduce ride cancellations by making it easier for both drivers and passengers to communicate by making pick-ups more accurate. This is especially useful if you’re trying to get a Grab from a relatively unknown place (say, inside a subdivision), or in a place with many possible pick-up points (i.e. a mall).
Only passengers are able to send photos through GrabChat for now.
The new feature is also expected to help make points of interest and other locations more accurate.
