Artist Solen Heusaff’s artworks are now wearable. Outside the canvas, it’s now on swimwear made of recycled fishnets and plastic bottles.
The initiative is in collaboration with sustainable swimwear brand Body Party and non-profit organization Save Palawan Seas Foundation. Called SolennArtxBodyParty, the collection brag Heusaff’s three vibrant paintings—“Lanai,” “Chick and Boys,” and “1/5”—on one-piece and bikini tops and bottoms.
The paintings were digitally printed on Italian Lycra fabric, which is composed of 78 percent recycled polyamide and 22 percent elastane. The fabric is resistant to pilling, ultra-chlorine, heat, and sun creams and oils.
Buying the pieces will not only benefit the customers, but also some communities Palawan. “Teaming up with The Save Palawan Seas Foundation, 20 percent of the proceeds from Body Party’s new collection will aid in providing beneficiary communities in Palawan sustainable sources of income without harming the environment,” writes Body Party on their website.
Prices start at P2,300. The SolennArtxBodyParty is available online.
