Have you ever dreamt of being a pilot but kept yourself from pursuing it because of the cost of learning how to fly? Flight school is no joke—you can easily end up paying close to a million—and the only real “affordable” alternative is joining the airforce.
Knowing this prohibitive cost, AirAsia Philippines launched a new cadet pilot program on Jul. 24. The program will provide “up to two years of technical and leadership training to aspiring pilots” and anyone, even non-AirAsia employees, are open to apply for it. The airline company clarified that it would “shoulder the full training costs and subsidies for this program,” and that trainees would later reimburse any associated training fees. It sounds a little similar to Cebu Pacific’s own cadet pilot program, though that one works on a “study now, pay later” scheme, with cadets reimbursing the full cost later on by working for the airline.
The program will initially start with ten cadets. The airline company noted that they will be releasing the requirements for the program soon.
