Where to eat, drink, and welcome 2020 with a bang

There’s a debate going on the internet that 2020 isn’t really the start of a new decade. Because there is no year zero, technically the start to counting down decades or centuries should start with years ending in one. And while that topic is an entirely new article altogether, you’ll be pleased to know that this glitch doesn’t stop anyone from celebrating the coming of the new year—new decade be damned. So, if you haven’t figured out where you’ll be spending New Year’s Eve or just decided to change things up for 2020, here are our suggestions on where to ring in the new year with a bubbly and a festive playlist.

Combine live entertainment from the Brass Munkeys and DJ Cam Abecina, Western and Asian cuisine, and free-flowing libations with a New Year’s stay at New World Makati Hotel to get 2020 started on the right foot. Admission for The Ballroom party on Dec 31, from 9pm to 1am is at P2,988. Then turn it up a notch with an overnight stay package in one of their rooms and suites with buffet breakfast for two adults and two children six years and below starting at P9,000

There’s no shortage of fun or revelry here at Hilton Manila with an inviting array of visual spectacles and musical performances. At the Hilton Ballroom, you can feast on its special poolside dinner buffet for P3,500 per person, which includes a beverage and access to the Vega Pool Club countdown party highlighted by a festival of lights and, well, a party under the stars.

Grand countdown celebrations are common across the metro but we firmly believe that even the little ones should take part in the New Year’s Eve festivities. So if you intend to ring in the New Year with family, consider Manila Marriott Hotel’s Grand Countdown 2020 on Dec. 31 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom. Starting at 7 p.m., what makes this revelry stand out is the fact that a Grand Countdown Kid’s Zone exists where children can do crafts, watch movies, make s’mores, and enjoy other kid-friendly activities. It’s a premium though with tickets starting at P15,000 but hey it comes with premium cocktails, five-star dining, spectacular performances as well as a 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve mass.

Crimson Hotel Filinvest City Manila

A ‘90s pop party to herald 2020? Count us in every time transporting back and forth in time is involved. That’s exactly Crimson Hotel’s answer to the plethora of New Year’s Eve celebrations in the South. Come in your flashy outfit inspired by the Spice Girls or maybe just don a grunge getup if you’re not feeling the sparkle and glitter of the ‘90s pop revolution. Filinvest City’s swanky hotel is also opening its doors with a staycation and stay-for-the-party package for P12,788. It includes an overnight stay at a deluxe room, two tickets to the ‘90s New Year’s Eve countdown party, breakfast, and even a turndown amenity.

Makati Diamond Residences

Makati Diamond Residences’ Alfred is turning to a two-pronged approach to welcome 2020. First, a Filipino-Spanish gastronomic experience for New Year’s Eve dinner featuring cochinillo with pinakbet rice and crispy bagnet strips, mejillones tigres, and Spanish chorizo. Then, of course, a countdown party set to the tunes of Project M and a robust selection of beverages including Moet et Chandon Brut champagne and eight different cocktails. Ticks all the right boxes, don’t you think?
