Here are the organizations you can donate to as we battle the COVID-19 pandemic

The whole country now being in a state of calamity because of COVID-19 signals a more proactive and even compassionate approach to our country’s situation. While staying indoors and following proper self-quarantine measures are crucial parts of flattening the curve and giving our nation a standing chance in this crisis, we can further use our privilege and resources by donating to these organizations that are aiding frontliners and citizens gravely being hit by this pandemic.

Kaya Natin!

The Kaya Natin! Movement, in coordination with the Office of the Vice President, is organizing a donation and fundraising campaign for personal protective equipment (PPE) and care packages for health workers and frontliners fighting COVID-19. As of Mar. 17, the campaign has raised over P17 million but you can donate until Apr. 14 or (hopefully) the end of the lockdown.

Those who want to help are encouraged to visit this link for their donations or make an online payment through Kaya Natin’s Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) account No. 3081-1173-72.

Aside from utilities like masks, alcohol, soap and tissues, financial support for the Philippine General Hospital is also needed for their other operations. Details are above for anyone who wants to be part of their crowdfunding.

Philippine Red Cross

Of course the participation of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC)  is needed now more than ever. Apart from raising funds for frontliners’ much needed PPE, the humanitarian organisation also plans to build emergency field hospitals (EFH) to suport overcrowded hospitals because of COVID-19. You can choose to donate by depositing to the bank accounts above or you can also opt to do this via GrabRewards as shown in the ride-hailing app’s GrabBayanihan feature below:

GrabRewards points are converted to specific monetary equivalents when you donate

National Center for Mental Health Philippines

It’s often overlooked how mental health workers—especially those who need to attend to their patients in person—are on frontlines of this battle as well. The country’s main mental health institution is also dealing with mental health patients who are suffering from  this pandemic. Thus, the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) located in Mandaluyong City is also appealing for for vital supplies like food, water and coffee along with PPE such as masks, surgical gowns and surgical disposables. Details on what other things you can donate and how are on the post above.

Caritas Manila

With their overarching mission to protect the poor, Caritas Manila is calling for donations to provide Caritas LIGTAS COVID kits and Manna bags to 6,000 poor families in Metro Manila. Following social distancing measures, you can donate to their BPI Savings Account No.: 3063-5357-01 or via Gcash and Lazada. For more information, check out their Instagram post.

UP Medical Foundation

Though funding for their recently FDA-approved testing kits is already being managed by the Department of Science and Technology, the UP Medical Foundation is still calling for monetary donations for the immediate mass production of the kits as well as PPE to conduct further testing.

Project Pearls

Project Pearls is a non-profit and non-partisan organization which helps and empower impoverished children by providing them with scholarship grants, educational resources and daily feeding programs. Although with more citizens being affected by the lockdown, the organization is evidently in need of donations to feed more children and their families. More details here.

Rock Ed relief

RockEd Relief by RockEd Philippines, an advocacy and alternative education group, is aiding ER frontliners at Research Institute for Tropical Medicine and San Lazaro Hospital Manila by providing them with fresh, nutritious meals to help them face this war against the virus. If you wish to assist, you can deposit to their BPI account: 3080-0073-44

Save San Roque Alliance

The San Roque Alliance is also pooling donations either in cash or in kind (see the needed utilities above) to help the urban poor community of Sitio San Roque in Quezon City. You may drop off or remit your donations by following the information stated above.
