PAL releases safety guidelines for when flights resume

With restrictions on domestic flights set to be lifted on May 15, Philippine Airlines outlined the additional safety measures they will be taking to prevent the spread of the virus.

Thermal scans will now be conducted at airport entrances and ticketing offices, and the “no mask, no entry” rule will be implemented for visitors. PAL’s staff will be provided with personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and masks, and transparent barriers will be installed at the counters.

Roaming airport staff will also be deployed to ensure that social distancing measures are carried out at check-in counters, boarding gates and bus shuttles. Social distancing will also be observed in cabin seating options, although PAL has yet to announce how this will be carried out.

Rigorous cabin cleaning and disinfection will be carried out by crew members in full PPEs, and high-efficiency particulate air filters have been installed on planes to purify cabin air.

Passengers are allowed small personal items of up to two kilos for their carry-on luggage, and will have a five-kilo free checked baggage allowance. Sanitizers with up to 70 percent alcohol content will now be allowed onboard, and passengers can bring 10 bottles of sanitizer in 100-milliliter containers in their carry-on.
