One of San Juan’s first KBBQ grill, Sodam, bids goodbye to its customers

If life was a Korean drama, there would surely be melancholic background music playing right now as one of San Juan’s pioneer samgyupsal places officially says goodbye to its loyal customers amid the quarantine. On July 19, Sodam Restaurant announced on Facebook that they have officially ceased operations.

“Sodam Restaurant is signing off! Thank you everyone for supporting us through all these years. We will miss you,” read the restaurant’s post.


Located in San Juan’s Little Baguio at J. Abad Santos Drive, Sodam Restaurant is among the first samgyupsal places to open in San Juan.

It was known for its budget-friendly all-you-can-eat samgyupsal meals, which are available for as low as P349. They also have set rice meals such as bibimbap, bulgogi and tonkatsu available for P199.


Prior to its closing, the Korean barbeque restaurant offered various items from their menu such as homemade kimchi, bossam sets, marinated pork and beef, dosirak meals and bulgogi for delivery. Despite these efforts to keep the business running, Sodam eventually announced its last batch of homemade kimchi for delivery on July 12 before officially closing down the shop, making it another food business biting the dust this quarantine.
