We know that some of you have been planning to make your Tagaytay road trip happen again after months of being in quarantine since it was announced that the city is reopening to the public. But the police say not so fast—especially if you come from outside Cavite.
According to Joint Task Force COVID shield commander and Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar in a virtual press briefing, the Tagaytay local government unit’s announcement of travel passes not being required for those visiting the city applies only to Cavite residents.
“Yung galing Metro Manila, ‘pag pupunta pong Cavite, eh dapat may reason ka ng pagpunta doon. At kung hindi, dapat kukuha ka pa rin ng travel authority,” he stated.
Among reasons that will let you obtain travel authority from Metro Manila to the province or vice versa are family or medical emergencies and going home as a “locally stranded individual.”
Now under modified general community quarantine, Cavite has relaxed restrictions which allowed Tagaytay to resume operations and restart tourism. Several restaurants, hotels and parks have secured a Certificate of Operation from the Department of Tourism and will be observing a 50 percent operating capacity.
Aside from securing a travel pass, tourists are also required to observe health and safety guidelines.
“Sa mga gustong pumunta ng Tagaytay, inaasahan namin na makikipag-cooperate kayo sa mga ipinapatupad na alituntunin tulad ng pagsusuot ng face mask, ng face shield at i-maintain natin yung social distancing. Sana, mag-log sila dun sa mga establishment na pupuntahan nila para ‘yung contact tracing process natin ay mabilis,” said Tagaytay City Administrator Engineer Gregorio Monreal in an earlier statement.
