These limited edition Doraemon and Totoro luxury goods are yours if you have money to spare

We are not going anywhere, we know—none other than Pope Francis has made it clear that unnecessary trips should not be prioritized. But in case we finally get to go out this year (fingers crossed), won’t you want to come out in style?

If you answered yes, and you have some money saved up (despite having online shopped most of 2020), you might want to consider these super kawaii luxury goods from Gucci and Loewe featuring Japanese animated characters Doraemon and Totoro.

Medium suitcase $5,800

Italian fashion house Gucci released a collection for Chinese New Year featuring the 22nd century cat-type robot Doraemon. Created by manga writing duo collectively known as Fujiko Fujio in 1969, the cat with a pouch that has almost every gadget imaginable time traveled to help preteen boy Nobita.

Silk scarf $370

This 2021, Doraemon figures on over 50 items ranging from tracksuits ($3,200/set) to suitcases ($5,800) and scarves ($370-$495) to Gucci’s now iconic mules ($790), are part of the luxury house’s Cruise 2021 collection available on its webstore.

Princetown slipper $790

Another anticipated release is by Spanish luxury fashion house Loewe, which will feature Studio Ghilbi’s titular character from the 1988 animated movie “My Neighbor Totoro”.

Totoro, a giant rabbit-like furry creature, befriends two young girls, Satsuki and Mei. The collection is scheduled for release on Jan. 8, with early access for a lucky few who won in a prior raffle.

Hayao Miyazaki’s round and cuddly masterpiece will appear on a limited edition capsule collection of bags, ready to wear and accessories, according to Loewe. However, there has been no preview of the items in store, only speculations that Loewe’s creative director Jonathan Anderson will make his signature animal-shaped bag in the likeness of Totoro.

Will you cop these limited edition luxury goods?
