If you need to get away from the city, you can finally set your destination to Baguio. ICYDK, Baguio City has reopened its doors to fully vaccinated tourists once more. While it’s a shame that we all missed Baguio during the hottest months of the year, that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the summer capital post-summer.

Most destinations usually require a negative COVID-19 test before you’re allowed to visit, but Baguio City has instituted new rules that allow people to use their vaccination cards in lieu of a negative test result. There’s fine print on Baguio Tourism’s advisory, though.

The people Baguio City considers to be fully vaccinated are those who have waited two weeks after completing all of the required vaccine doses. Baguio is also open to accepting visitors of all ages, but only if they’re from general community quarantine (GCQ) or modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) areas.

Also, there are no spontaneous trips to Baguio.

If you want to visit, you’re going to have to plan ahead. The local government requires people to schedule their visits ahead of time and register for a QR-coded tourist pass (QTP) through the official Visita Baguio website at least 24 hours before you’re slated to travel. There’s a 3,000 visitor limit in Baguio city per day, so it’s first come, first served.

And if you’re thinking of skipping the registration process and just sweet-talking your way in, they have a strict “no QTP, no entry” policy at the border, so you being turned away is a very real possibility.

According to the advisory, minors will be allowed to visit the city as well but may be denied access to private establishments.

For more information, you can visit the Visita Baguio page.
