Sky rises and sunsets: Outdoor dining with stunning views

Dining al fresco is great, but dining al fresco with a stunning view is even better. The world is slowly creaking back into its old ways, so what better way to (safely) celebrate than drinking and dining with a view of the city skyline or the sunset dripping into the bay?

If you want to treat yourself to a cocktail on the 42nd floor of a high-rise or enjoy the sea breeze on your face while enjoying a dish, here are a few rooftop bars, restaurants, and outdoor lounges with a view.

C Lounge

Conrad Manila’s C Lounge is not to be missed when you’re looking for quality food and a stunning view. Situated right on the water, the restaurant has unobstructed views of Manila Bay and all her glory. C Lounge is open from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. daily.

Mijo

Having a large friend group is a modern problem, but Mijo’s roof deck can surely accommodate. The Poblacion, Spanish-Filipino fusion restaurant’s rooftop can accommodate more people—which is a great idea if you’re planning an in-person Christmas party with friends this year. Mijo’s roof bar is open from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. from Wednesday to Sunday.

Sky High Bar

Located in Pasig City, Sky High Bar has been a mainstay for the after-work crowd in the area. North meets south at this bar, treating patrons to views of different central business districts in Manila. Sky High bar is open from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

The Penthouse 8747

A stunning view of the Makati skyline and arguably even more stunning interiors are what The Penthouse 8747 has to offer. The rooftop bar and restaurant serve up a wide selection of bar chow staples and mains across different cuisines. Its plush, Gatsby-inspired, art deco interiors are reminiscent of the roaring ’20s—which is just a tad ironic considering everything. The Penthouse is open from Monday to Thursday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Friday to Saturday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Sunset Bar Sofitel

If you’re feeling a little fancy, Sofitel’s Sunset Bar is where you should go. The poolside bar’s spacious al fresco lounge is arguably one of the best places to catch the famous Manila Bay sunset. For the ever-hungry, Sofitel’s latest dining concept, The Food Truck, is serving up seasonal specialties to go with your sunset cocktail. Sunset Bar is open from Thursday to Sunday, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. For dinner reservations, The Food Truck is open from Thursday to Sunday, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
