MaArte at the Pen is back with a physical fair this August

It looks like we’re truly and quickly moving towards the new normal. Live shows aren’t the only events getting a comeback this year—our favorite local artisan fairs are also back to the live space.

MaArte at the Pen, a craft and artisan fair by the Museum Foundation of the Philippines, is returning to its home at The Peninsula Manila this Aug. 19 to 21.

At their press conference, the Museum Foundation of the Philippines announced that MaArte at the Pen 2022 will be run by Philippine Art Events, Inc., the same group that owns and operates Art Fair Philippines and Art in the Park. Aside from showcasing artisan and local designer creations, the fundraising fair also aims to provide support for the National Museum and its network.

There will be a total of 94 participants in this year’s fair, spread throughout three floors of the Peninsula. The fifth floor will cover apparel and fashion accessories, as well as a special section for the PHx Fashion Group. This section aims to introduce 23 contemporary fashion brands, including Mich Dulce, Bagasao, Ha.mu, ec/eustacia, Tropik Beatnik, Randolf, and more.

The sixth floor will focus on contemporary design in furniture and home accessories, as well as food and beverage.

A relatively newer section, meanwhile, will be housed on the 7th floor. This will focus on heirloom and antique furniture and jewelry. And keeping with MaArte’s history of being a complementary event to HABI, the second ASEAN Traditional Textiles Symposium in 2009, traditional textiles will also be exhibited.

Aside from the three-floor selling area, MaArte will host a “Slim at the Lobby” exhibit at the Peninsula’s lobby, curated by artist Mark Lewis Higgins. The exhibit will run from Aug. 15 to 27, featuring pieces created by iconic designer Salvacion Lim Higgins, who has recently been proclaimed a National Artist for Fashion Design.

MaArte Talks will also resume at the hotel’s Salon de Ning.

MaArte at the Pen will run from Aug. 19 to 21, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, check out their social media.
