They take it back: Madrid Fusion Manila will push through after all

We were greeted with sad news last Apr. 1 to find out that Madrid Fusion Manila (MFM) would no longer be pushing through. Budget allocation, logistics, and even the true benefitors from the event were key factors in the decision to end the contract.

But yesterday, Apr. 4, the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) released a statement saying that Madrid Fusion Manila (MFM) may push through—given the “new developments and change in logistical requirements which are advantageous to the government.”

And just earlier today, Department of Tourism spokesman Frederick Alegre said that MFM will be held on Sep. 25 to 29 at the Marriott Hotel’s grand ballroom.

The initial reason for the event’s cancellation was “non-availability of participating international chefs and exhibitors.” But in a recent interview by the Inquirer with TPB head Cesar Montano, they also cited the current administration’s opinion on the event as a factor in the decision.

Needless to say, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more updates on this year’s MFM.
