LOOK: “Cherry blossoms” spotted in Cavite

Ah, what would I give to have springtime here in the Philippines? Summer is becoming more and more unbearable and to be honest, most days we’d rather stay indoors than have a little fun under the sun.

It seems like spring made a quick visit to Cavite. If you happen to pass by the De La Salle University Medical Center in Dasmariñas, Cavite, you’ll see vibrant cherry blossom-like trees blooming beautifully. But as we all know, cherry blossoms don’t thrive that well in warm temperatures (i.e. Manila weather). The flowering trees are actually pink tabebuia trees or trumpet trees. Trumpet trees bloom in March, similar to Narra trees.

These pink-flowered trees can also be seen in different parts of the country. Puerto Princesa in Palawan is known for their Palawan cherry tree or Balayong tree.
