Free overnight parking in SM Malls during the storm

SM City Marikina is offering free overnight parking for shoppers and Marikina residents left stranded by Tropical Storm Henry, which has already caused heavy flooding around Metro Manila. “May the facilities of the mall serve as a temporary protection for your vehicles,” SM City Marikina announced on social media. SM malls in other areas affected the storm are also following suit.

This is not the first time that the mall chain offered this service, as it did the same during Typhoon Lando, Tropical Storm Mario, etc. “In times of calamities, our malls offer temporary respite and a meeting point for families who may be unable to get to their place of residence. In the areas where severe flooding is experienced, we provide parking spaces for residents. Overnight charges are waived,” the company said.

As for the people who need to go on the road to pick up their loved ones, don’t worry: MMDA is lifting number coding for private vehicles and city buses today.

Stay safe, folks.
