You might want to head over to the walled city of Intramuros on Jun. 12 because the Intramuros Administration (IA) has just announced a line-up of activities to celebrate the country’s 121st Independence Day in line with their 40th anniversary. From movie screenings to a music festival, the day-long event has various activities that start as early as 9 a.m. Admissions to all activities are free of charge.

Here’s a quick run through of them:

Watch short films at this film festival

There will be a free screening featuring the finalists of the 24-hour Filmmaking Challenge competition last November 2018. It will be held at the Teatro, Fort Santiago beginning from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. You may RSVP at gaceta@intramuros.gov.ph

Stroll along Intramuros with your bike

Go on a stroll along the main street of the walled city minus the vehicles. You are encouraged to bring your own bike, scooter, and even your pets. Otherwise, you can rent a bamboo bike under Bambike Ecotours in Intramuros for a fee. It’s running for the entire day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Fort Santiago and Destileria Limtuaco Museum will waive its entrance fees on Jun. 12. The former is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. while the latter’s open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can also visit the newly-opened Museo de Intramuros, which has free admissions for the first six months since its opening.
