This year marks the 40th Grand Marian Procession annually observed at Intramuros in honor of Manila Cathedral patron saint the Immaculate Concepcion or the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The annual procession traces back to the 1600s during which the first one was conducted in between the Second World War.
Every first Sunday of December of each year, devotees flock to the Plaza de Roma at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros to see over 100 images of the Immaculate Concepcion along with other saints paraded one after the other following the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Photographer Jo Ann Bitagcol attended this year’s procession, which began Dec. 1, at 4 p.m. Here are some of the photos she had taken of this event.
