Check your COVID-19 concerns via Apple’s newly-launched screening website and app

Apple is helping its users stay informed during the COVID-19 outbreak by launching a new screening tool and set of resources in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the White House Coronavirus Task Force and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Offering both a website and an app, the tech company aims to provide “access to resources to help people stay informed and get the support they need.”

Aside from displaying answers for frequently asked questions regarding COVID-19, the website and app will also contain the latest updates and helpful information for keeping themselves safe—like instructions on how to properly your wash hands—from CDC.

Its key feature, however, is a screening tool that will serve as a resource especially for those who suspect that they might have caught the virus.

“The COVID-19 app and website allow users to answer a series of questions around risk factors, recent exposure and symptoms for themselves or a loved one. In turn, they will receive CDC recommendations on next steps, including guidance on social distancing and self-isolating, how to closely monitor symptoms, whether or not a test is recommended at this time, and when to contact a medical provider,” Apple said in their website.

However, Apple says that the screening tool does not replace instructions from healthcare providers or guidance from state and local health authorities.

The company also assures users that their data will be kept private and secure. Moreover, it will not require a sign-in or association with a user’s Apple ID, and users’ individual responses will not be sent to Apple or any government organization either.

Users 18 years and older may now access the screening tool and resources organized by Apple through the COVID-19 website and download the app via the App Store.
