Fresh from a second appearance on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurant last month, Jordy Navarra’s Toyo Eatery, as well as his bakery concept Panaderya Toyo, resume operations amid COVID-19 enhanced community quarantine. This time, due to the limited number of available crew, both concepts are only offering a lockdown menu for takeout.
Toyo Eatery launched its oversized silog and bilao selection on its Instagram page Sunday night.
“Since only a few of #TeamToyo can come and cook for everyone, as well as having fewer suppliers than usual, please bear with us on our limitations. Although we have a small menu to offer for now at limited quantities, we are working on adding to this in the next few weeks!”
Available through takeout only, there are three items in the lockdown menu: silog with seafood, silog espesyal (with seafood and meat combination) and housemade pansit espesyal (with seafood and meat combination).
All come in 10-inch (P1,500, good for three to four people) and 16-inch (P2,900, good for six to nine people) bilao servings.

On Mar. 24, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list was released through a YouTube livestream. Navarra, who was in quarantine, reacted to the news through an Instagram post where he said the news was “a nice break from the crisis our world faces today and a mini celebration of our work the past year.”
He thanked everyone who continues to support Toyo Eatery and offered encouragement and support to the F&B community amid the COVID-19 crisis. He also dedicated the recognition to all the frontliners braving the pandemic saying, “A massive thanks to all the health workers and people on the front line who give us hope and the chance to come back and work through this.”
Last year, for the 2019 Grand Gelinaz Shuffle, a worldwide kitchen event where chefs across the globe swap recipes for one night, Toyo Eatery made it as the first Filipino restaurant on the shuffle list.
