Cookies have been my go-to snack lately, especially during work hours. Aside from the energy boost it gives you, they’re also really convenient to eat—I can easily hold one in one hand as I type on my laptop with the other.
If you frequently eat cookies like me, it might be a good idea to make homemade ones instead of eating the store-bought kind so that you can control the sugar and fat content. Here are five easy-to-make recipes you can begin trying in the kitchen.
Chocolate cookies with white chocolate chunks
Why not replace the usual milk chocolate chips with white chocolate chips? The fudgy texture of the chocolate cookies brings out the creaminess of the white chocolate chunks, making for an even chewier combination.
Spritz cookies
This variation of butter cookies is popular during the holiday season, but you can make it even without any special occasion. Its light, crisp and buttery texture pairs well with a cup of tea, hot chocolate or coffee.
Mochi cookies
If you love mochi or rice cake, this Korean snack will definitely have you rushing to the kitchen in no time. With a mix of cookies and mochi as its filling, this recipe takes “chewy” to the next level. While using steam for making mochi is more advisable, you can also microwave the mochi mixture under high heat for 30 seconds; stir well and repeat until the mochi is ready. You can also check out a pandan coconut version of this recipe here.
DoubleTree by Hilton cookies
In case you missed it, the American hotel chain DoubleTree by Hilton revealed the recipe for their signature chocolate chip cookies. With ingredients like lemon juice, rolled oats, cinnamon and chopped walnuts, it’s a step up from your regular chocolate chip cookies. It’s the first-ever food baked in space, too.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Chocolate Chip Cookies
Here’s a recipe for travelers who miss being out and about: the famous chocolate chip cookies from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. A single recipe can yield around three dozens of cookies despite having nine ingredients only, which you can also easily find in your baking stash. The familiar taste of these treats to those who frequent Walt Disney World Resort is its main point, but even those who have never tasted its original version will enjoy its thick texture and sweet taste.
