Despite the rain and discouragement from the government (in the form of the Department of Justice saying protest rallies are banned, and Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque saying gatherings must be limited to 10 persons only), protesters pushed through with the planned “grand mañanita” at University of the Philippines – Diliman earlier today, June 12.
In true mañanita fashion, some have even brought party supplies like balloons, cakes, and even karaoke. One key difference of this mañanita from a certain other’s though, is that this Independence Day protest practiced physical distancing.
