Take your tutus out: Ballet Philippines’ new season is going online

Dust off your tutus and bring out your pointe shoes, ballet dancers and enthusiasts! Although they can’t take their fantastic performances on stage just yet, Ballet Philippines (BP) is bringing the groove back through BP OnStream, their 51st season program set to be held totally online.

According to BP president Kathleen Lior-Liechtenstein, their new season’s offerings include “Symbiosis of Gymnastics and Ballet,” which is composed and compiled by BP’s artistic director and honored Russian artist Misha Martynyuk.

He will be joined by guest artists Joseph Phillips and Filipino dancer and performer Joshua Serafin. Ballet luminaries from Barcelona, New York, Monte Carlo, Moscow and St.Petersburg will also be participating in BP’s online activities.

Meanwhile, dance masters George Birkadze, Eduard Akhmetshin, Igor Kolb, Shlyapina Galina Arkadyevna, Victoria Ananyan and Joy Annabelle Womack will be sharing their ballet knowledge by holding lectures and masterclasses on BP’s online pages.

Famed ballerina Natalia Osipova from the Royal Ballet and her partner Jason Kittelberger will also participate as guest artists for the season.

Of course, BP is not leaving out children who have interests in the art of ballet. Open for children from five to 12 years old, a “Tales, Tutu’s and Tots” class introducing the world of ballet will be launched by the company as well.

Aside from their ballet shows, BP will also hold sessions on wellness and nutrition. With a focus on giving one a dancer’s physique, they will be relaying fitness tips and cooking recipes on their online sessions as well. While no specific dates are revealed yet, BP OnStream is set to start in July.
